How my app build was 99% cheaper the second time
From $12k to $80
When I first built my app about 7 years ago it cost me about $15k Aussie Dollar. About 12k USD.
I was lucky. I didn’t have to pay project management or maintenance costs because I’d managed to get the app featured on mainstream TV interviews (above) and online publications. Meaning the web company could use it to prospect new business.
They made enough from it to offer me this service.
I was stoked.
But then they shifted their business model away from app building and myapp wasn’t as popular as before, so I removed it from the app stores and stuck with my coaching programs and simpler tracking tools.
Then, last year I got a sudden burst of inspiration when I was prototyping a design for a tech client.
The prototype was built on something called Glide and I realised it wasn’t just a prototype (Old school hot buttons etc)
It actually functioned with logins and recording information in a backend.
I could do the design but there was a little bit of no-code design that needed to be built in the backend. SO I mocked it up and had it rebuilt with more features that the original app and I paid a lady $80US to put it all together.
