Clean Communication and a Curious Observation

Part of the open conversations between Rob Gronbeck and I are that we can be super clear about how we feel when we make comments or suggestions.

Some recent ones:-

I was talking about making the Beepbreath “the world’s best measurement and most fun for delivering Co2 max measurements.”

Rob left me a msg saying “What you said made me cringe a bit.”

I laughed at this.

It was so good! These visceral feelings are the most important to share, because they can land at the gnarly end of the scale and manifest hard if left unsaid.

Christine McDougall has an element of the Syntropic Process called Clean Communication.

Syntropic World

If Rob had have left that unsaid, it had the potential to hold a charge.

The charge increases with minute things that I may do or say and then at some point, Rob may lose it over something that doesn’t seem like much and it’s all stemmed from not pulling the weed out when it was first coming to the surface.

You then have to get an excavator and the weed could potentially have done irreversible damage.

I admire Rob for a lot of things. But none more so than how he does the work - in more ways than one.

The work in the sense of the yards to test hypothesi’ (that should be the multiple for hypothesises) in all areas of life. And the work in the sense he works at a bar of a night to pay his bills.

He’s also got a few coaching clients, and now following the Beepbreath soft release there are a few more rolling in.

So proud and frothed for him.

I mentioned that I’ve taken most of my Superannuation out and got a couple of cash boosts due to all my live events being cancelled for a fair chunk of the year.

Since Covid I haven’t made lots of money, I’ve coached several private clients and run a few corporate workshops.

But I haven’t spent much either.

I’ve been in a golden Stasis of thought and following my gut, which will soon come to an end.

I sat down when this all kicked off and dropped into full faith that my projects (now the beepbreath and subsequent work with Syntropic) will provide enough cashflow for us to start with our Tiny Home build.

We’ve got enough to start the build, so it’s chips away.

And what triggered me in our conversation the other day, was Rob suggesting that it might be good to get a job at a bar…

In hindsight it was so epic. But I was a bit speechless at the time.

And it hit me like a brick after we got off the call.

Why was I so triggered?
One of the reasons for trying to create a project with Rob, was so he didn’t have to work behind the bar anymore, so he could do what I know he is phenomenal at: coaching people into life changing transformation.

But fuck! when I stopped to think…

Imagine that life.

He might be coaching his 10 clients a week or something. And then what?

He’d be living (sort of) the life I’m living in Mermaid Beach…

My naive attempt to get Rob into more coaching would be potentially taking away the joys of working in a team behind the bar. The bar doesn’t matter, it’s the same as the farm. It’s a team!

IMO — the most important thing for us as human beings is having connection. And for the most part this is with each other.

Working on the farm gave me all the connection I could need, except for Jacqui not being there. And thus connects the Tiny Home movability to this grand narrative.

So how do I clean this up, 1) I chat to Rob and 2) I write about it.

I actually shared the charge with Rob too and we had a chat about it. It was good. It brought up a bigger question: How do we get that froth (potentially) from working in a team through this project?

We may need to build a cave or two.

Aligning the flow cycle to Clean Communication.

A negative charge resides in the struggle phase, we’re supposed to have negative charges, they’re hard, they hurt.

Flow Genome Project

And what happens when you talk it out?

That’s called Release.

And what happens once you’ve found your release.

It’s like a long exhalation that feels glorious and somewhere amidst it you can find yourself in flow- group flow with another person.

If you don’t kick the negative charge, you stay in struggle.

And guess what? That’s anti-flow, anti-froth — straight out Fizzzzzz…

Having this knowledge play out in real time is so valuable for my grasp on these concepts.

And I’ll finish by saying, charges go both ways.

For me Froth is the positive charge and Fizz is the negative.

While froth is ideal, sometimes the real magic comes flying out of the fizz…

Not sure how I feel about that last sentence…
but let’s let it slide for now.
